Calcite on Quartz Matrix

This unique piece features a semicircular cavity lined with crystallized calcite in dark, black, and reddish tones. The calcite rests on a matrix of quartz crystal, which exhibits an early-growth amethyst banding. The specimen tells a story of its own formation: it began as amethyst, then underwent a double or triple crystallization of quartz, and finally, calcite formed. This sequential growth allows us to observe distinct stages of formation, from the initial amethyst to the present specimen.
